Programme design and content
A typical programme lasts 4-5 weeks and is designed to accommodate up to 12 delegates with graduate or similar qualifications. Programmes can be timed to fit in with employers’ summer recruitment programmes, or may be run at other times throughout the year. Features are:
- Each programme consists of a number of core training modules, including an industry-specific ECITB/Client/Contractor National Safety Group (CCNSG) 'safety passport' qualification. Additional modules are tailored to include employers’ specific preferences, related to the nature of their engineering business.
- The programme is divided into themed weeks i.e.:
- Practical fabrication, machining and fitting activities.
- Plant and machinery maintenance.
- Electrical system operation and maintenance.
- Plant operation and control.
- Diagnosis and technical faultfinding exercises.
Delegates’ employers are invited to integrate their specific 'company introduction' presentations into the beginning of the training programme.
The maximum group size of 12 allows close assessment and reporting of delegates’ performance. Selected training activities include test and assessment routines. These lead to profiling and reports of each individual’s engineering skills potential.
Each training programme is tailored to the client company’s industry activities and its specific training needs. There are 6 basic industry profiles that can be accommodated: see the Industry Profiles page.
