Training Programme Objectives |
|
Matthews Engineering Training (MET) Ltd provides tailored training programmes to employers who recruit engineering graduates. The global objectives of these programmes are to provide delegates with:
- A transition programme between university training and their first role in industry.
- A working introduction to hands-on plant engineering, operation and maintenance skills.
- An appreciation of basic engineering and craft skills.
The MET training programmes are strongly practical, rather than academic, and start where degree courses stop, rather than repeat elements of them. The figure shows the concept.
Entry routes
The training programmes are intended for induction of client companies’ technical staff intake, particularly recent engineering graduates. The intention will be for them to hold engineering positions in the company as soon as they are able to provide useful input. Typical career routes will be into design, manufacture, production, operations/maintenance or project engineering. To provide for this, the training programmes provide broad coverage of the disciplines of mechanical engineering. These programmes contain intensive training over a 4-5 week period and are therefore suitable for delegates who are prepared to attend over the full working week in an industrial environment, want to learn, and can learn quickly.
