Delegate Assessment & Testing |
|
MET recognise the requirement of most employers to assess the skill level and engineering potential of their graduate recruits. The training programme contains close assessment of each delegate’s performance using a combination of continuous assessment and formal tests.
Discrete subject modules within the training programme are assessed using 40-minute test papers comprising a mixture of multiple choice and short descriptive questions. A typical week will contain 2-3 of these tests. Practical exercises are structured as mini-projects; each exercise comprises a series of activities and objectives that are assessed by the relevant course presenter on an ongoing basis. A typical project exercise lasts 1 day and is organised as follows:
- Classroom introduction/practical/workshop demonstration: 60 minutes.
- Project exercise briefing: 15 minutes.
- Morning project sessions: 120 minutes.
- Afternoon project session: 120 minutes.
- Assessment and project debriefing: 60 minutes.
Delegate assessment report
MET provides employers with a detailed training programme report for each individual delegate. The exact format is discussed with employers at the programme proposal stage but normally includes:
- All examination and practical project assessment results.
- Lecturers’ written comments on delegates’ performance and commitment over the training programme.
- Breakdown on strength and weaknesses in individual technical subject areas.
- Skills profile (see a typical format in the figure).
